Nafplion

…. First capital city of Greece!!!

Nafplion is the capital of Argolis state and the main port of east Peloponnesus.

The Municipal Port Fund of Nafplion is Public Entity and its base is the port of Nafplion.  It is located at the northeast side of the Akronafplia peninsula.  It is tangential to the old city and consists of scaffolding, which is spitted in two parts from intermediary jetty with a “Π” shape.  The opening of entrance and exit of the port is 107m. It is protected from the ripple southwest and northeast winds with seawalls.  The Nafplion has also competences for the ports of N.Kios, Tolo, Mili, Vivari and Iria.

Regardless its quaintness, the port of Nafplion offers modern infrastructure and 24 hour operation all year round.  It is guarded and harmonized with the International Code of Safety ISPS, with jetties about 420m, with affordability of two cruise boats up to 200m long, at the same time.  A marina for cruise boats functions at a curtain section of the port, as well.

There are infrastructure plans for the port of Nafplion that are mainly about the well of the basin that will reach the 8.9m. and the channel that leads the ships to the parable positions. Also, it is provided that a passenger’s terminal will be built inside the port area and in front of the point of the parable of the ships.  This last project, along with the rest of the other meters that are contemplated for the maritime security, will upgrade the whole structure of the port and will give it a bigger perspective of the development of the cruise.
