On the 21/7/2020 Corfu Port Authority S.A. signed a contract with the contractor of the project amounting to € 297,600 regarding the supply and installation of floating piers at the Gaios Port of Paxos in the framework of the THEMIS project -INTERREG cooperation program.

The project entitled THEMIS (Territorial and maritime network supporting the small cruises development) concerns the financing of the upgrade the Gaios Port of Paxos so that it will be able to accommodate small capacity cruise ships.

The development of this type of tourism is expected to contribute positively to both the increase in tourist traffic to the island as well as the extension of the tourist season.

In addition to the floating piers, the funding also concerns infrastructure such as, the creation of a new passenger station, the maintenance of quays, the improvement of the superstructure, the lighting network, the paving of the waterside road, etc.

In addition, the upgrade of the port will have immediate benefits for the local population, as they will be able to enjoy better quality of services.

The financing for the supply of equipment and the actualization of the projects amounts to 1,000,000 €.

Within August, Corfu Port Authority S.A. will auction the construction of the New Passenger Station for the Port of Gaios.
