Cruise statistics 2019

The Hellenic Ports Association (ELIME), following the practice of the last 10 years, publishes today the cruise statistics for the previous year 2019, as regards the number of arrivals of cruise liners and cruise passengers at 43 port destinations throughout our country.

Thus, cruise arrivals for 2019 have risen significantly above our expectations. Cruise liners arrivals reached the 3,899 (from 3,410 in 2018), increase 14.34% and cruise passenger’s arrivals the 5,537,500 (from 4,788,642 in 2018), increase 15.64%.

Based on the table information we send you, we also want to highlight the following:

• Data provided by ELIME members (25 ports - cruise destinations that operate as Port Organizations or Port Municipality Funds).

• The remaining details were provided by the relevant Port Authorities, which we thank for their immediate cooperation.

• The top twenty cruise port destinations are kept the same, with some minor rearrangements. Piraeus Port continues to hold the top spot in destinations for the 10th consecutive year, marking a significant increase in homeporting / boarding (from 354,398 in 2018 to 410,512 in 2019, an increase of 15.83%).

• Significant increase was also noted in the ports - destinations mainly in the ports of Santorini, Souda (Chania-Crete), Rhodes, Ag. Nicholas of Crete and Kefalonia-Ithaca.
